Your Captain

A Charleston native who fishes these creeks every single day.

Fishing Charleston 101 is a private, owner-operated charter — not a fleet, not a franchise. When you book, you fish with a licensed local captain who grew up working these tides, not a rotating cast of deckhands. That's the difference between a good day on the water and a great one.

  • U.S. Coast Guard licensed captain, fully insured vessel
  • Private charters only — your group, no strangers
  • All rods, tackle, bait & ice included
  • Patient with first-timers, sharp with veterans

“I don't run a boat for a living — I fish for one. There's a difference, and you'll feel it.”

On The Line

What you'll find in the Lowcountry backwaters.

Charleston's tidal creeks hold year-round action. Target species shift with the season — your captain reads the tide and picks the game plan.

Redfish

The Lowcountry's signature gamefish — tailing on the flats year-round.

Spotted Seatrout

Light-tackle fun over grass flats and deep holes, especially fall & winter.

Flounder

Ambush hunters along creek mouths and structure — great on the table.

Black Drum & Sheepshead

Heavy-shouldered structure feeders around docks, jetties & pilings.

Questions

Before you book.

Do I need a South Carolina fishing license?

No — the boat's saltwater license covers everyone on board for inshore and boat tour trips. Just bring your ID.

What should I bring on the trip?

Sunscreen, polarized sunglasses, a hat, and non-slip shoes. We provide all rods, tackle, bait, ice and water — feel free to bring snacks or drinks of your own.

How many people can come on a charter?

Our inshore charters comfortably fit up to 4 anglers, and boat tours fit up to 6 guests. Larger groups may be split across multiple trips — just ask when you book.

What happens if the weather turns bad?

Safety comes first. If conditions aren't fishable, we'll work with you to reschedule at no charge or issue a full refund — your call.

Do you practice catch and release?

It's entirely up to you. Many guests keep a few fish for dinner and release the rest; we're happy to fillet your keepers dockside.

Where do we meet the boat?

We depart from Shem Creek in Mount Pleasant, just minutes from downtown Charleston. Exact dock details are sent when you book.
